Scott arrived in October following the injury to Chris Dagnall . The 31 year old didn't lack experience. He was picked up from Staines Town by Millwall in 1995 and after 28 games was signed by Bolton for £150,000 in March 1996 despite failing to score. Scott never managed to establish himself at Bolton making just 12 appearances over two and a half years though he managed to score once. He also scored in loan spells at Rotherham and Blackpool. In October 1998 he joined Tranmere for £350,000 and scored 17 goals in 107 appearances as well as plauying in the 2000 League Cup Final. A year later he was released and joined Stockport scoring 4 goals in 27 games before joining Blackpool six months later. There he hit the best goalscoring form of his career with 43 in 116 games. This increased his value to £100,000 when he went to Plymouth in 2004 but it didn't work out there with just 4 goals in 34 games. He went to MK Dons in 2006 but continued to disappoint with 5 goals in 50 games and a blank loan spell at Brentford in 2007.
I don't critcise Keith Hill's team selections - going back to his first month in charge when he offloaded every player I wanted him to - but the decision to give Scott two starts ahead of Adam Le Fondre is one of his strangest. Scott was either totally shot at 31 or he just couldn't be bothered and I'd be surprised if he touched the ball more than two dozen times across his four appearances. He is the worst player of the Hillcroft era and it's no surprise he dropped out of professional football after his month with us.
He played for Grays Athletic and Lewes before returning to his first club Staines Town in July 2009 where he now combines playng with work as an electrician.
