Guy  was  brought  in  to  help  with  our  centre  half  injury  crisis  in  August. Guy  was  a much-travelled  player  starting  out  with  Leicester  and  going  out  on  loan  in  the  late  nineties  to  Colchester, Lincoln   Plymouth  and  Rotherham. In  1999  he  was  sold  to  Rotherham  for  £50,000   despite  not  having  played  for  the  first  team. He  won  two  successive  promotions  with  Rotherham   and  scored  13  goals  in  99  appearances  but  fell  out  of  favour as  their  fortunes  declined  and  went  on  loan  to  Wycombe  and  Peterborough  in  his  final  season. In  the  summer  of  2004  he  signed  for  Sheffield  Wednesday  and  played  11  games  before  returning  for  another  loan  spell  with  the  Posh.  In  February  2005  he  joined  Oldham  and  played  45  games  scoring  2  goals  before  finally  signing  for  Peterborough  18  months  later. He  played  regularly  in  the  first  half  of  the  2006-07  season  but  found  games  hard  to  come  by  after  that. His  career  was  littered  with  red  cards  leading  to  constant  jokes  involving  the  word  "pickle" ( Jeff  Stelling  is  a  particular  offender ).

Guy  looked  like  a  nightclub  bouncer  and  certainly  intimidation and  winding  the  opposing  fans  up  were  part  of  his  game. Nevertheless  he  was  a  solid  no  frills  stopper  who  did  a  good  job. His  debut  at  Hereford  helped  us  steal  our  first   point  of  the  season  despite  an  awful  performance  from  Spencer  in  the  nets. He  then  gave  a  superb  demonstration  of  back-to-the  wall  defending against  Norwich  in  the  League  Cup. Unfortunately  we  saw  the  bad  side  of  him  at  home  to  Macclesfield  when  he  gave  away  a  stupid   penalty  and  then   started  crunching  people  whenever  he  went  up  for a  corner.  Keith  Hill  took  him  off  before  the  referee  did  the  job  for  him. He  only  got  an  appearance  in  the  JP  Trophy  after  that .

He  got  another  couple  of  appearances  for  the  Posh  before  going  out  on  loan  to  Northampton  in  December  2007. The  following  month  he  was  released  by  Peterborough. He  spent  a  month  at  Notts  County  making  one  appearance before  dropping  out  of  the  League  with  Kettering. In  July  2009  he  joined  Burton  for  their  first  season  in  the  League  but  went  on  loan  to  Torquay  after  his  second  red  card  of  the  season. Despite  making  it  three  in  his  last  game  of  the  season  Torquay  signed  Guy  in  the  summer  and  he  has  just  had  an  excellent  season  making  45  appearances (2  goals, no  red  cards)  and  getting  in  the  League  Two  PFA  Team  of  the  Year.
